Hotel Josephine Holton Kansas

This Hotel was built along the stage coach route in 1989 By A. D. Walker. It has been dubbed the oldest running hotel west of the Mississippi River. It is believed that the basement was a carriage house. And that was the Stagecoach entrance.

When the hotel was complete it had electricity and a wood burning stove in each room.

The only year the hotel was not in service was in 2010, the hotel changed owners around this time.

There is not much history to be found on this hotel other than it was renamed several times. In 1892 it was named the Teer House, and was later renamed later Rinehart Hotel and at one time the Sutherland Hotel.

Reported Haunting's

There are many reported hauntings. The most common "most Reported" haunting's are objects moving, shadows, strange sounds, footsteps, and laughing.

People have reported capturing images in photos of shadows in the mirrors on the stairs leading to the second Floor.

It has been reported the bed was shook in the buffalo room.

It is reported the John Wayne Room has a very disgruntled older man.

It is reported that you can hear children playing in the basement.

It is reported that the Carrie Nation Room is haunted by a woman who hung herself in the bathroom of that room.

They also say that the ghost of Josephine herself is seen roaming the hotel.
