Duff Green mansion

 This Mansion was Built in 1856 by a cotton broker hoping to make a home for him and his bride.  They lived a lavish lifestyle until the  civil war reached their doorstep.  In 1863 Duff Green saved his Mansion and some of the other buildings in town by declaring  them as hospitals for both union and confederate soldiers. 

The home also served as a boy's orphanage and for 50  years it served as the headquarters for the Salvation Army Headquarters.  

In the 1980's Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sharp renovated  the Mansion into a home again. 

This mansion is said to be haunted by at least 10 different  ghosts.  

It is reported that the most active ghost is that of an original owner Mary Green.   She is reported to walk along the hallway and through different rooms in the house and just disappear.  

Another Green, haunting this mansion is Mary's 5 year old daughter, Annie and she is seen roaming the hall's. 

Another ghost seen roaming the premise is that of a Confederate soldier. 

A Soldier has been seen walking  around on the ground floor carrying a severed leg.

Surgeries were done in the Dixie Room .  And a rollaway bed is not recommended in this room as there has been a soldier  seen rocking in front of the fireplace where the extra bed would be.

Other sightings include full body apparitions, shadow figures, foot steps, voices, and furniture being dragged across the floor.
